of the baby’s dress—
swirls
between the mother
and
the eyes
of the reviewer.

Look closely
and see
with new eyes,
eyes as young
as the baby’s
captured
for
all time
in the portrait,
in the swirls,
in the dance
from
then
to
now
. . . and beyond.
