SARABANDThe morning air
is spangled
with glitter
of sorrow and snow.Shoeless, all undone,
I shuffle through
this hollow space,
once home, now phone
and street address.I dress,
and dreaming,
soon am drawn again
to last night’s dreams
of you … in swirls of scarves.
Embraced, I’m swayed
and drape lank loneliness
in seams of rapture.

Now the morning light
ignites a xylem glow
from windowsill to chair,
from red oak floor to maple
countertop and stair.
the grain of longing
whorls
and ushers presence.
