CLOUDS
Chagall clouds
floating over
village roofs,
chickens
large as houses,
Torah scrolls
rolling & unrolling
in the simchas
of Hasidic dance.
Sliver rings of
medieval Jewish brides,
three-four inches high.
The top of a temple.
Open and there’s
a bima with an aron,
a kiddush cup on a table.
Lift it,
drink it—
L’chaim!
